Photogram covered in Crain's Chicago Business

From the article:

Photogram: Ravenswood-based Timelines Inc. will launch this photo-sharing app for iPhones on June 16. It lets people choose four photos from their mobile device, package them together with an artistic theme and share them via email, Facebook and Twitter. “It’s a very simple way for people to share photos from an event,” says Timelines co-founder and Chairman Brian Hand. Those events could include vacations, birthday parties and Little League games. Although people are already sending photos from their iPhones, Mr. Hand says Photogram will let them do it in a way that’s more personalized and artistic. Photograms incorporate designs by independent painters, photographers and illustrators, who will receive a portion of the proceeds.  Read more: http://bit.ly/lb2ojA

What makes an image memorable?

People, indoor scenes, and human-scale objects. Lanscapes? Not so much, says a new study from MIT neuroscientists:

In general, images with people in them are the most memorable, followed by images of human-scale space — such as the produce aisle of a grocery store — and close-ups of objects. Least memorable are natural landscapes, although those can be memorable if they feature an unexpected element, such as shrubbery trimmed into an unusual shape.

Photogram featured in All Things D

From the article:

Photogram is deceptively simple. Users select up to four photos from their phone galleries, pick a theme, add the email addresses of the recipients and fire away.

The output is a simple Web page, similar to Instagram, and a rich-media email to recipients. Users can also opt to send the link to Facebook or Twitter.

Themes range from backyard barbecuing to soccer to more abstract arty choices. They are designed by independent artists and converted for use in the Photogram app.

And just to correct some discrepencies in the article: Timelines was founded by Brian Hand, Geoff Buesing, and Scott McMillin, and Photogram was developed by the entire team (Brian, Geoff, Scott, Bob Armour, and Zach Zolton).

Photogram previewed with Robert Scoble

Brian and I visited with Robert Scoble (of Scobleizer fame) to talk about Photogram and its upcoming launch.  See interview below.  (And if you don't follow Robert Scoble, you should - find him on Twitter @scobleizer).

From SXSW: WSJ's All Things Digital Mentions Photogram

From author Liz Gannes at AllThingsD:

I rounded up the mobile social apps that pitched me on their launches at SXSW this year. This isn’t narrowed down to those debuting for the first time ever, but as best I could, I culled it down to those with significant new functionality for the show.

Photogram will be launching in April.
